Weezer Tribute CD show. Promoting Making Noise: a tribute to weezer CD released February 6th, 2001 on Skunk Ape Records. Rilo Kiley doesn't appear on the CD, but they were in talks of contributing a track to a planned 2nd installment, that's how they got on the mini-tour. I'm not sure whatever happened with that plan.

The show tonight at Koo's was oh-so EXCELLENT! Rilo Kiley literally rocked the house! Koo's Cafe is rather an odd venue, it was the first time Rilo Kiley ever played a public show in a house!
Thanks for everyone who showed up and supported this marvelous band! Wasn't it so worth it?

For all you that couldn't make it, the Koo’s show was fantastic, as usual. There were some minor mic problems during the first song, but Blake figured out, most ingeniously, how to resolve them (he switched mics with Jenny). They played “Science vs. Romance,” “85,” “Go Ahead,” “Always” and several other requests from the crowd (despite cheers for the ever-popular “Glendora,” that was not part of the repertoire). I smiled uncontrollably during “Science vs. Romance,” because I was so very impressed with the band’s ability to rhythmically thrust in perfect unison with the beat.

I was also happy to hear them play one of my personal favorites “Papillion” from the first album; and I thoroughly enjoyed Jenny’s facial expressions during key points in the song. Also, I loved their brand-spanking new song, inventively called “our new song.” I’m eager to see how it will develop (to quote my leader, “I think it may need some polishing, but I like it too”)

Originally, RK was going to play only a few songs because there was a band scheduled to perform after them, and Koo’s closes at midnight. But (lucky for us Rilo fans) they, somewhat mysteriously, decided not to go, or something. Perhaps aliens abducted the band in question, I don’t purport to know.

More importantly Rilo Kiley was great, and I was so pleased to see two young people seated in front of me go outside and buy two copies of “take offs and landings.” The word is spreading to OC and I couldn’t be more delighted.

I enjoyed the show last night! Koo's is small but that worked out, it was like a private show, secret if you will, only the best of the best knew about it. Of course, the mic guy sucked, but he usually doesn't cut it with any other band either, makes Koo's a little bit more fun, well who knows, I have yet to play there.
