Update from Eric, December 2001.

I recently asked Eric for an update on what he's been up to lately (working with Alanis Morissette; doing music for the film "Sex With Strangers"; playing shows with Bicycle Thief, etc.) and here's what he had to say:

I have been playing with Alanis for a little bit now. Weve been to
Boston, San Diego, Baltimore and here in LA at the shrine a week ago. I am
going to play with her at least through 2002. I met her when she had me
play a bit on her last record. She was the coolest girl on the planet.
I told her i would do anything for her and we kept in touch personally
until a few months ago, at lunch, she told me she was going to redo her
band and asked if id be interested.

About 'Sex with Strangers"... i would have to say that it was only due
to a huge amount of spiritual growth on my part that i didnt punch that
directors lights out. We did not hit it off. I think he used some of my
music but mostly hired someone else to do knock offs of others peoples
music (including mine) and i think i had my agent take my name off the
credits. I dont even remember.

Did a quick little stint with "Bicycle Thief" because Bob Forrest is an
old friend who i like alot and i wanted to help him out. We opened for
"they might be giants" on the west coast for a couple of weeks. It was
like a road trip with a couple of friends. Fun.

Throughout all this i will be involved with a project at sony called
screenblast and i will continue to create my own music. For anyone
interested, if you have some good pipe to the net (dsl, cable, t1) check
www.screenblast.com. They are trying to create an online creative
community. Pretty cool stuff.

Eric also mentioned maybe passing along mp3's of new stuff he's been working on at home. So hopefully he'll do that sometime and I'll be sure to post them on the site.

He also told me he has a lot of "why something" CD's left over, saying, "we have long since made back the cost to make them so i have been giving them to anyone who wants them." He may soon give a bunch to me which I would then send out to anyone in need for just a buck or two to cover shipping.
