Love the site but in the getting started walkthrough you say make sure
you bought the vest but you don't mention where it is and I've up for
three days looking for it both in the game and online (which was useless)
in game ive died countless times and my sanity is slipping, please tell me
where n how to find it.
Thanks

Hey,
The vest can be found for $25 in a shop in the room on the second floor of
the castle on the right (2nd opening from the well).. it's the room that
says "hudson" on the bottom of it. Shoot the bottom of the "n" in hudson
and go right (off the screen).
Hope that helps you out.. best of luck.

Hey!
Thanks so much for bringing this site to the "plate".
I dug up my old system before selling it and came across o' Milon.
I beat it years ago, but couldn't remember a lot of stuff. I'm 46 years
old
and thought I would try my hand at it one more time before selling it on
Ebay.
I'm at the top level and know I will beat the game.
Thanks again for all the help!
~Babs
Thanks for the email. Great to hear
my site was helpful to you. I hope you were able to beat the game.
take care,
-Gavin
Hello.
Thanks for the reply. I have a question that maybe you can answer...
I beat the game, but is that all there is too it when the princess thanks
Milon?
I could have sworn that the musicians all came out and played a tune for
you.
Additionally, I started the game after I won with left and start and
the umbrellas were going extra fast so that it was difficult to catch
them.
Is this a second walk through with a different ending?
Thanks again!
~Babs
Hi Babs,
Yeah, I always thought when the princess thanks Milon, that's the end.
I think what you're thinking of when all the musicians play is when you
find that last bonus stage (you get an instrument added each time you find
it, so the last time is all the instruments together.)
I don't think I've ever played a "second quest" after beating it, so I'm
not sure if it's any different, sorry. I'll have to try checking that out
one of these days. If you find out, please let me know.
anyways, congrats on beating the game!

hey!
I'm only 18 years old but i still play my NES everyday. my uncle was big
into nintendo, he gave my sister milon's secret castle. we all hated it,
we were too dumb and little to understand the game but i've recently
busted it out again. surprisingly i got very far thanks to your web site
and the "Ultimate unauthorized NINTENDO game strategies" book. i played
this game for 7 hours straight...i didn't even eat supper when my mom
called me...seems kind of lame...still sitting in the basement playing
nintendo.. hahah anyway i have gotten every single item expect 1. i beat
that brown monster guy that's in the left tower but i cant kill the fake
princess..i've shot her a million times...and nothing! that stupid "crow"
kicks my ass every time. the fake princess wont die! I've read over your
site and i've read alot of talk about a crown and cane? the one dude in
the shop tells me something about it...but...that guy sucks with his
"hints". i have the "trippy bubbles" and i still cant kill her....i also
cant kill that red dragon thing that's under the fire place? i know you
haven't played the game in awhile but what am i doing wrong? i have
everything but not a cane or a crown? please please help me! my sister
beat it with a game genie way back but i wanna beat it without cheats(plus
i stepped on my game genie and broke it...hahah) THANKS!
ps. in the manual it says Milon goes to see the Queen....why is it a
princess?...i don't get it..and she's wearing the same colours and hair
colour as princess toadstool...what was Hudson soft thinking? and another
thing...what the HELL was Hudson Soft thinking with the whole 1 life deal?
were they trying to make it realist or something?...i sent thing an angry
drunken email telling them how pissed i was was...they tricked me with
their Bee logo..i thought it was the same deal as the first adventure
island...but it turns out its just a force field thing....(sorry if this
is alot...Nintendo is my life...) thanks alot! i hope you email me back
soon!
Sincerely:
- Gavin...nah just kidding...it's Derek
Hey Derek,
Hmm.. I think you have to beat the boss under the fireplace first. So I'd
suggest filling up your life meter (and maybe trying to find a bee shield)
and try to take him out. Then you should hopefully be able to kill the
fake princess/crow things and get the cane and crown they leave behind.
Good luck!
man i wish you told me last night! hahha i turned it off at 2am. i
started again today, now im having a hard time finding everything again
hahah but i found a bee shield and i kicked that bosses ass under the fire
place! thanks gavin! sorry for the long email yesterday, i get carried
away sometimes...
Ha, sorry, I went to bed early last
night. And you're email was cool, don't worry about it. It's just hard to
reply to things sometimes.. for instance, I have no clue why Hudson did
most of the odd things they did. haha.
But anyways, again, good luck.
remember me talking about that "Ultimate unauthorized NINTENDO game
strategies" book, well i was reading about MSC and there's a "super
secret". this is what it says : " if you want to go for points and have
an extra life to spare, you can take advantage of this quirk in the
program: kill off a demon monster(boss), grab a Crystal ball and then fall
off a cliff or otherwise die. Before you continue, press down either one
of the firing buttons and hold it down and watch your points collect" the
book also talks about the Left-start thing but there's points in the game?
and a extra life? im too affraid to try it out now because im so far. what
do you think about it?
Weird.. they must've confused it
with a different game.. because there's no points or extra lives or cliffs
in MSC.
ya i just tried it out because i gave up and turned it off, i cant beat
the right tower. even when i have a hudson bee:(...my dream of beating
this game will come one day...one day..
[the next day...]
well gavin...i did it...i beat the game.....thanks alot, your website
helped me fulfill my dream of beating this game. thanks alot. i LOVE your
website!
Right on, glad to hear it!
Is there more to the game than phase 1? I recently beat maharito 2
times and the game said you have completed phase 1-see you soon. Then I
pushed start and the umbrellas were rising slowly, so I assumed that the
game went back to the starting point and shut off the Nintendo. Also is
there a honeycomb in the left tower, if so where? I did find the extra
life in the fireplace room that took some patience! I am a sixty year old
woman who has been taken back to the time my kids and I used to play
Nintendo. I love this site – thanks for making it. Joyce
Hi Joyce,
No, I'm pretty sure there isn't any more to the game after you beat
Maharito. Good job!

Subject: Milon's Secret Ending?
Hey Gavin! Your web site was a fun
surprise... I didn't realize that there were other fans of Milon's Secret
Castle out there! I think it's probably safe to say that the game scared
off most NES owners with its ferocious difficulty.
I did manage to beat Milon's back when I was a kid. That was after three
solid hours of gameplay... the real challenge was getting out of that
leather recliner afterwards! However, there was something I always
wondered about the game which I didn't want to spend another three hours
trying to verify. As you know, there are bonus stages where you catch
notes that drop from the top of the screen... catch enough of them and you
add a musician to your band, resulting in a richer, more complex
soundtrack. Does the game's ending improve at all if you finish all the
bonus rounds and assemble the entire band?
Thanks for your time, and any help you can offer!
JR
Hey JR,
Glad you like the site! To answer your question: no, getting to all the
bonus stages doesn't affect the ending. But now that you mention it, that
would've been cool. Your reward is just getting to hear the full-blown
song during the last bonus stage.
(update: apparently the GameBoy version has a slightly longer ending if
you collect all the items and enter all the bonus rounds, but the NES
version only has one possible ending.)

Hello Gavin. Nice web site. I remember playing Milon's Secret
Castle game for the NES game console in the early 90s. I only made
it to level 2 of the second floor of the castle. I didnt get any
further in the game (though I did manage to beat the boss in the
Well...barely).
I now am playing the Gameboy version of Milon's Secret Castle on a
Gameboy Emulator program on my computer. BGB is the best nintendo
gameboy emulator out there. You can get the BGB gameboy emulator here:
http://bgb.bircd.org/
If anyone needs the Milon's Secret Castle gameboy ROM, ask me. I was
able to find one out there on the web.
here's the password for Milon's Secret Castle - Gameboy edition:
KTPTT TSRK TRNTT
<this password will give you all items, all 7 crystals, all access
to all the rooms with all keys collected, all bosses defeated except
the final boss and maximum life bar of 16 units>
The password in the GB edition of Milon's Secret Castle is given at
the Game Over screen.
About the comment you made to "joe berentsen" in your Mailbag page
about changes to MSC and suggesting the brief invulnerability period
after getting hit. I believe the Gameboy edition has this, sort of.
If you get hit in the gameboy edition of MSC, you'll be invulnerable
for more than a second and won't take any more damage. Many of the
"downsides" of the NES edition of MSC (like the crappy ending sequence)
are addressed in the gameboy version. The GB edition also makes use
of the SELECT button which makes you view what items you have collected
and how many crystals you have collected. Just press the Select button
during the game to view the items and crystals collected, then press
Select again to continue the game. This was not featured in the NES
edition of the game.
also in the GB edition of MSC, AVOID touching those electrical wires
attached to some blocks in the Right Tower level. They do double the
normal damage (it takes away two life bars instead of one, beware).
I found this out when playing the Right Tower level. This wasn't the
case in the NES edition of MSC as touching the electrical wires do
normal damage.
You may want to look at the Unofficial Milon's Secret Castle Guide
by Matt McGrath. I found a copy of it here:
http://home.earthlink.net/~searchengine/EMU/NintendoMilonFrames.html
You can also download the guide here along with the maps of all the
levels:
http://yosemite-sam.net/Solutions/Milon.zip
The explanation of what goes on in the Left Tower level is pretty
helpful, especially for gamers who have gotten "lost" in the Left Tower.
I've also obtained the MSC ROM game for the NES and the NES emulator
[FCE Ultra seem to be the best NES emulator out there]
In level 4-1 of finding the "real" Maharito (the final boss); if the
bubbles hit him while he's attacking you AND the screen flashes a
little bit (as you hit him), then you have found the real boss (but
still the real boss may be in a different colored room as noted in
your FAQ). If the screen doesn't flash a bit when you attack him
while he's shooting beams, then the boss may be fake.
That seem to only work in the NES version when I played the NES edition
of MSC on the NES Emulator, recently. I'm not sure about the
GB edition of MSC.
The best way to kill those eye-octopus creatures in the well is to
have those big bubbles (after beating the well boss) AND the umbrella
powerup for rapid-fire. Once you see those eye-octopus creatures that
do their annoying reappearing and disappearing act, rapidly shoot
at one of them to turn it into a balloon and grab it to get out of the
well.
The people who have emailed you in the past should try out the Gameboy
edition of Milon's Secret Castle whenever possible. It's as fun as
the NES edition.

Thanks Gavin. I did a recent Google search for Milon's Secret Castle
and I found this Gamespot.com page that it was released in Japan for
Nintendo Wii:
http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/milonssecretcastle/index.html
Release date was April 10, 2007
Rumors about the MSC game being released on Nintendo DS turned out to
be untrue. It hasn't been released...yet. Doing a Google/Yahoo search
on this and I found the game to be called Milon's Star Paradise.
See this IGN page:
http://ds.ign.com/objects/827/827464.html
I do encourage gamers who have played the NES Edition of MSC to try
out the GB (gameboy) edition. I did complete the GB game after collecting
all the items and finding all the music boxes to play all the bonus
stages and the game will show a slightly longer ending sequence after
beating the final boss. I won't give away the ending for the GB
edition.
E.P.
Thanks again, Emmanuel. Please give
me a shout if you find out more info on those new games. Sound
interesting.
I think I'll also have to play the GB version again one of these days. I
only got through it once, a few years ago, and can't remember if I
bothered getting everything or not.
take it easy,

I'm 21 now, and I have a laptop I take to work that has a lot of ROMs from
games I used to have, and games I was never able to beat like the first
TMNT or games I never bought but wanted to get when they came out like
Megaman 6.
I was playing some NES ROMS on the laptop when I remembered Milon's Secret
Castle and how I never got past the first floor in the game, ever. I
downloaded it and took it to work with me, I spent two hours on the first
floor (I shit you not.) Ten years later, I still could not figure it out.
After I got home today, I decided to give it a quick google search and see
if there's a guide on how to beat what I dubbed was an impossible game.
Well sure enough I found your site, and bonked myself on the head with a
Brooklyn Smasher from Cold Steel Knives repeatedly. (And yours was the
first result, congrats) I never knew that you could push blocks, much less
which ones. I was never one to let my sprite run into a wall for longer
then a tenth of a second, since I'm a speed demon with most of my games. I
suppose I never guessed it because it takes three to four seconds for a
block to move after running into it, or the fact that I never had a
manual.
Thanks for the short intro guide, I feel like a major dumbass, 21 years in
the making.

Hello, I must say your website is very helpful. I have two questions for
you:
1. Is there a way to "save" your progress in the game without turning it
off? I know that if you hold left and press start at the title screen the
game will begin at the point in which you just died. However, I am
heistant to turn off the NES.
2. Where can I purchase the vest to protect from the fire?
Thanks.. glad you appreciate the site.
To answer your question, no, there's no way to save in the NES version,
unfortunately. (The Gameboy version has a password feature. Also, if you
play on an emulator, you can use save/load states. But on a regular NES,
you'll have to play the game all the way thru in 1 sitting.)
The vest can be bought in a room on the second floor of the castle. ..it's
the room that says "hudson" on the bottom.. shoot a hole in the wall in
the bottom right of the room to find the shop.
good luck!

Thanks so much for your time… I remember my mom and dad beating this game
when it first came out. My mom would play until the she had the kill the
bosses and then my dad would take over. Such fun. My son recently put this
game on my computer and I have played a lot, but just can’t get off of the
3rd floor. I have collected everything but the crown and I absolutely
can’t figure out how to get to the princess that is not accessed through
the fireplace. Any tips on finding her and getting to the 4th floor would
be greatly appreciated. Also, is the left tower only a trap? Or is there a
way to get out once you are in?
Hi Andrea,
Yeah, in the tower where you keep going down the steps, after you get to a
certain point (right before it takes you back to the start), you need to
jump and shoot some blocks in the upper right.. then jump up and over in
that area.. This will take you to the bottom of the tower, where you'll
find a hole in the floor that will take you to the place where you'll find
the other fake princess you need to kill.. i think.

Hi Jaqueline,
If you want to buy a new copy of the game, it's pretty easy to find online
at places such as
eBay and
Amazon.
But yes, you can also play it
on your computer. First you need to get a NES emulator. A good place to
find one is
Zophar's Domain..
the emulator is like the system. Then you need the game ROM to play. You
can download it right here from Milon's Secret Website..

have fun!
Hi, Gavin!
How are you? I'm glad to playing!
I'm have fun with Milon's in my computer. Thank you for all!
But, after I had find 11 itens and taked 7 ball cristals, what I have to
do
to find a saw? In that stage of game, I have to desist because I can't win
the monster of the eletric room in the right tower; so I'm tired and I
have
to quit. My sorry it's because I dont Know to put the password to begin at
my last stage.
Whose the button (or buttons) I have to press to put the bless password?
And, What the hell is MAHARITO?
Please help me!
Till next,
Jaqueline
Hi Jaqueline,
Glad you're enjoying the game.
If you play the game on computer, you can probably save it, then play more
later. Find in the emulator at the top.. it should say something like
"Save State" somewhere.. then when you want to play again, choose "Load
State".
It's kinda like a password, but easier.
To answer your question, go to the ground floor of the castle and enter
the wall on the second ledge to find a shop where you get the saw, letting
you enter the dark (barred) windows.
MAHARITO is the name of the final boss.
good luck!
Gavin
Hi Gavin!
It's all right! You don’t gave to me any wrong info.
I began the game again and first, I went to the red room, killing the
witch
of there. Nothing happened! I went down for the third floor, filled my
energy and back to the blue room where I killed the other witch. Again,
nothing happened! The same thing with the blue room! Then, I went to the
pink room, and Maharito was there. I beat the game through the pink room!
I don't know how to explain what happened! But I was happy for beating the
game again The same way at first time (ha, ha!). I looks like a child!!
Good-bye!

Hi,
I am overjoyed to be able to play MSC once again. I have never beaten the
game, and I have read all the posted emails to see if my question was
previously posted. I am in level 2 of the castle, and have gone thru both
rooms and made my way into the well. I have found the passage thru the
left side to the blue room and fire room. I have made it thru the fire
room beaten the boss and received the hammer. I can't seem to find my way
back to the well so that I can break through the castle wall and get the
saw. How do I get out of the fire room?
Any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated,
doonan0673
Hi Steve,
There are 2 ways to get out of the well level. #1, climb out. The fire
room is tricky to go back through. You'll need to find a hidden spring
platform and break out some blocks. Also, it's pretty much impossible to
do without getting hurt in the fire at least once. Plus it's tough because
you're being shot at all the while.
(ok, now this part is pretty much copied/pasted from a previous email..)
Then make your way back to the first part of the well. Climb(jump) up the
right side till you jump out the top of the screen.
The other way out is to "warp" out by killing one of those ghost-octopus
things in the well/fire room. It takes a lot of hits, but when you finally
beat one, it'll turn into a balloon.. quickly grab the balloon before it
floats up and away, and if you do, it'll take you out of the well.
Both ways are kinda tricky, so it's really a toss up as to which way is
best.
Best of luck!

fall threw the bottom floor and run left i can see her but i dont know how
to get over there.
Any help would be great. thanks alot

Hey Gavin,
(wow, another Gavin.. cool!)
So for beating the crow.. So you powered up your bubble to the trippy
colors? (from a shop at the top of the floating elevator)
I'm not sure what else to tell you. Perhaps you need more items or to beat
another boss first.
The way to the 2nd fake princess is through one of the towers of the
castle.
Sorry I can't be more help. It's honestly been a while since I've played

I HAVE BEEN GETTING TIPS FROM YOUR WEBSITE FOR THE LAST
TWO DAYS AND I HAVE FINALLY MADE IT TO THE 4TH FLOOR. I WENT INTO THE
RIGHT DOOR AND EXPLORED FOR A BIT. I FOUND THAT THERE ARE ABOUT 5
DIFFERENT COLORED ROOMS BUT REPEATS THE SAME BACKGROUND. I MADE IT UP TO
THE VERY TOP AND CAME TO A GUY JUMPING ON A POGO STICK OR SOMETHING. I AM
SHOOTING HIM AND NOTHING IS EFFECTING HIM.
I HAVE THE BLUE AND PINK BUBBLE, I ASSUME THATS THE STRONGEST?? AM I AT
THE LAST GUY AND IF SO HOW THE HECK DO I BEAT HIM???
Yeah, that's the final boss
(Maharito). There are like 3 or 4 of him.. with only one being the "real"
one. Try the blue room first.. if that doesn't work, try the others. He's
only vulnerable when he shoots. So find a good spot near him, like on the
spring, and keep shooting at him when he shoots.
Good Luck.

Hello homes, I have been viewing your page randomly for
about a year now
never thinking to actually email you, but I must say that this game has to
be remade, and not poorly like Rygar or the contra series but in all its
2-d
glory. Hudson soft collection volume 1-4 is a series of games for the
Japanese game cube and Ps2 that remade their older games using the next
generation technology for games such as load runner, star solider, bonk
and
adventure island and they appear to be sick, but of course us on the
western
shores never get to exp; such divine delight. What a great day it would be
to se them put some time back into this old franchise, I mean seeing how
there is the NES, Game boy, and the under heard Do Re Mi Fantasy Milon
super
Famicon in the series, they have something to work with. I’ve been doing
multimedia and soon to be going for animation this winter, if meet the
right people this is the game to revamp, I don’t even know why just call
me
a 21 year old still living his memories as kid sitting on the living room
floor playing games that plagued his dreams with better images. Oh and
shouts to the adventure of Lolo series, that needs a comeback as well, and
not some egger land pc revival bullshit either.
Ps: sorry about the spelling and grammar public education is a bitch, at
least where I lived. Keep up the good work.
Hey Jesse,
Thanks for the email.. glad you dig my Milon site. Yeah, that would be
cool if they put out a remake of the game someday. But I won't be holding
my breath. Seems like that little franchise is dead. But you never know, I
guess.
Good luck to you with your animation stuff and everything.

I have been playing the hell out of this game and
even with the cheat codes, I can't get to the 4th floor. I've killed the
fake princess in the colum room, have all the extras except the cane and
still cannot find the other fake princess opr ge to the 4th floor. here I
am, a 59 year old woman with seriously arthritic fingers, still trying to
get to the end of this game. Thanks.! PS: I'm relieved to know that I'm
not the only one out there still intrigued with Milon.
Wow, that's impressive!
Ok, I'll try to help you out. You need to go to the room on the 3rd floor
with the fireplace, which I believe is near the lower right. There,
instead of going up to the door, you need to go down to the fireplace.
Shoot 2 blocks out on top of it, then push the middle block (beware the
"fire monster" will come out and start shooting at you.. you can either
just be quick and try to avoid him, or try to kill him, but it'll take a
lot of hits). So as I was saying, push on the middle block for a few
seconds, then you'll fall in to the fireplace. There, you'll find another
boss to fight. After beating him, you go to a big orange room similar to
the one with the other fake princess. Go over to the left until you find
the 2nd fake princess and beat her like you did the 1st one (to get to
her, you have to drop down from false floors above her). After beating the
crow thing, you'll get the cane. If you already got the crown, then you're
probably ready to go to the 4th floor. To get there, enter the castle in
the top center. There's a skeleton boss there you need to beat in order to
get to the top.
Good luck!

Love the website!
Just found this game and a game genie, and figured I’d try beating it
after so many failed attempts as a kid. I’m stuck now though. I’ve got
every single item, have killed both fake princesses, and have no idea
what to do next. Where is the next boss I should be fighting?
ok, to get to the top floor of the castle, you have to beat a boss..
the door to which is located in the upper center of the third floor. i
can't remember if it's in the wall or a window, but it shouldn't be too
hard to find if you try entering around the top there.
good luck, and glad you like the site!

Your website is great! I used to play Milon when I was a
kid and I always enjoyed it. I just bought myself a copy on e-Bay and was
completely brain-farting about the old tricks. Your website helped me get
back on track. Thanks! Kim
Thanks for the email, Kim. Glad you
like the site and best of luck with the game!

Love the site btw, awesome
anyways, since obviously you are the game guru of the castle, I've given
in, i will go crazy if i don't ask! So i beat the big fire ball guy in the
well.... i get the orb, go through the door....and it spits me out back in
the middle of the fire level, ive tried shooting all over the place, i
managed to get back to the first part of the well by climbing, but still
nothing, can you tell me please what in the world i am supposed to do
next? lol
btw because of your site i am glad to know the game has a story line! all
i knew was it was milons secret castle, no details, until i found your
site : ), thanks!
Hi Carrie,
Thanks a lot.. Glad you like my site.
There are 2 ways to get out of the well.. #1, climb out. Make your way
back to the first part of the well, then climb(jump) up the right side
till you jump out the top of the screen.
The other way is to "warp" out by killing a ghost in the well. It takes a
lot of hits, but when you finally beat one, it'll turn into a balloon..
quickly grab the balloon before it floats up and away, and if you do,
it'll take you out of the well.
Both ways are kinda tricky, so it's really a toss up as to which way is
best.
Good luck with it!
---
oh, and I forgot to mention.. if you
don't have the lantern thing, it's really hard to see the blocks you have
to jump on to climb out of the well. That's probably what was giving you
problems. But look closely and you should be able to tell where they are.
If that doesn't work for you, stick with the ghost-killing option. It's
not really worth it to buy the lantern. I think that one room in the well
is the only place in the entire game you use it.. and as I said, you don't
really NEED it, it just helps out a little.
haha, it's funny how I've kinda become the "game guru of the castle", like
you say. It's not like it's my favorite game or I play it all the time or
anything. I just played it a few times over the years, kinda liked it, and
threw together a little website for it. But it's cool that so many people
have found it helpful.
haha, well i suppose you are the game guru
then because no one else ever managed to make it through the game and
still want to put up a site for it : )
anyways, yeah i got the balloon thing and all was good, but then there was
nowhere new for me to go once i was out of the well, i tried everything,
re went through all the levels looking for something i might have
missed.... i dunno....
i see now why no one really ever talks about the game...... i won't talk
about all the times a mario like game had me so frustrated, lol
Yeah, I guess I'm the default game guru since I'm the only person to
bother making a site for it. And it is pretty confusing at times if you
don't know exactly what you need to do. I don't even know how *I* figured
out a lot of this crap. haha.
Ok, so after you beat the first floor, the rooms on the 2nd floor, and the
well, then you have to beat the boss of the 2nd floor in order to move up
to the 3rd floor. When you beat the well boss, you get the saw that lets
you enter the dark windows of the castle. Then go down to the first floor
of the castle and enter the dark window to get the hammer that lets you
enter certain secret places in the wall of the castle. Then go back up to
the 2nd floor (though the room the boss was in) and enter the wall on a
platform on the right side of the castle.. that's where the boss is.
Again, good luck!
i got the hammer from beating the boss in
the well, and i tried entering the dark windows, but it wouldn't let me
so i restarted the game, beat the 2nd boss again, got the hammer again....
still doesn't work for me to go into the dark windows.... hrmp
its cool though, at least you aren't the game guru for say..... terminator
2.... lol
have you ever played the krion conquest for NES? now THAT is another hard
game... i never make it past level 2 of that game : )
Ok, this is the 2nd time this week somebody told me about that hammer/saw
problem.. so I started second guessing myself and just went ahead and
[*gasp*] played the game. Turns out I've been giving people wrong
information all this time! Some game guru *I* am. haha.
Here's what you REALLY do: Beat the well boss, get the hammer, kill an eye
octopus thing (this is actually pretty easy once you beat the boss thanks
to your stronger bubble. btw, the dark blocks you can't see without a
lantern in the top part of the well aren't the ones you need to climb to
get out, but rather the ones you need to jump over to get further down the
well.. man, I was ALL screwed up with my advice).. get the balloon from
the eye octopus thing to warp out of the well. Go back to the ground floor
of the castle and enter the wall on the 2nd ledge.. There's where you get
the saw. Now go back up to the 2nd floor of the castle and enter the dark
window all the way on the right. There's the boss you need to beat to get
to the 3rd level of the castle.
Whew. Hopefully I've set you straight now. Sorry about the earlier bogus
info!
And no, I've never even heard of krion conquest. And if it's as hard as
you say, I'll probably stay away from it. I don't really have the patience
for hard games that I did when I was a kid. :)

I was checking out your website today and noticed how you said you made a
hack of the game to make it mario like... I want to know how you do that
sort of thing, because i want to make my own video games. I would
appreciate your help and your website is very cool either send me a
message on yahoo messenger or reply thanks,

Hi Jay,
Thanks.. glad you like my site.
As for making video game hacks, I'm not that good at it, but it's not
really too hard to do the simple stuff like modifying graphics a little.
Check out..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROM_hacking
That should give you the basic ideas. Then you might try googling "tile
editor" and "hex editor" for more info.. those are the main tools you'd
probably need to use.
Good luck with it.

Subject: Milon's Questions
Hey! Nice site, it's helped me out a lot! I just finished college now I
have a bunch of time on my hands so I got out my old Nintendo, lol. But
now I'm stuck and getting irritated, haha. So I just passed the Boss in
the well and immediately after they gave me what I believe to be the
hammer...or at least thats what it looks like. Still no saw though. So I
climbed back out of the well and I found the hidden spot in the wall on
the 2nd floor but when I walk in, it puts me right back out. I still can't
get in those dark windows. I think the saw is my problem but where the
heck can I find it? Or maybe I have other issues. Any help would be MUCH
appreciated!
Thanks,
Abby
Hi Abby,
Hmmm.. there should be more than one hidden spot on the wall (yeah, some
spots just spit you right back out). So just keep trying to enter at
different spots and you should find it soon.
I'm pretty sure you get the saw after beating the well, then you get the
hammer from within a dark window. So if you really did get the hammer
after beating the well and can't get the saw, I'm afraid I don't know what
to tell you! I'd probably just start over. That's pretty crazy.
ha, oh well. Best of luck to you!

Great website! I was never able to figure out that you had to push that
different colored block over. I could never get past the first castle.
Thanks alot.
One question I have - in the second room on the first level of the castle
- you may have noticed that you can shoot out several blocks a bit higher
up in the staircase (in addition to the path you shoot yourself in order
to get the key). I was able to uncover at least one money block in there
but could never find a way inside there to get it - I'm talking about a
money block somewhere above the spot where you shoot the path to go get
the key, not the money block you find while shooting along that path.
Do you know of any way to get that??
-Ryan M.
Hi Ryan,
Glad you found the site handy! As for your question: there IS a block you
can shoot out between that pathway to the key and the extra money in the
middle of the staircase. You just need to hit it directly, I guess. It
might be easier to do if you're shrunken when you try it.
Good luck with the game.
Hey thanks alot man, I've gotten alot farther after that. One final
question - what the hell do I do at the fireplace. I remember a hint that
said push for 4 seconds or something but nothing happens. Am I supposed to
have a certain item first? Thanks...I'm debating whether to try to kill
the boss in the top of the gray castle top over on the right - but I get
the feeling there's something i can do at the fireplace as well. Also -
any idea what the hell the point is in that room all the way to the gray
castle thingy to the left??? It seems like it's just a loop and I don't
see any secrets in there.....this is all in level 3 in
case you don't remember. Sorry for the all the questions.
On top of the fireplace there are 3
blocks, you've got to shoot the two side blocks, then push on the block in
the middle. Be quick about it, because it can be tricky if you haven't
killed the fire monster thing that comes out of the fire place, as he
shoots at you while you're trying to push the block. Anyways, you'll end
up at another boss. Then you go to the big orange room where there's a
fake princess (one of the 2 you need to beat). Before you can kill her/it,
I'm pretty sure you need to first power up your bubble (from a shop in the
room with the elevator thing, I think). As for the gray tower on the left,
you need to shoot out some blocks to make a little passageway to jump up
through.. otherwise, yeah, it'll just keep looping.

well my family and i recently got into this game but are having trouble on
the first level.. we lost the manual a long time ago and cant seem to find
the way to the well. Is the saw to cut down the tree?and how do you find
the saw? and how do you beat the dragon.. he always seems to kill me and
nothing happens to him. please help we love this game but are so confused
and your site is the only thing even close to help.. thnx alot for making
it
Love Lots ,
xOxTaraxOx
Hi,
The best I can do is point you to the
"getting started" walkthough.
That should hopefully give you the help you need.
To get to the well, you first have to beat the first boss (the dragon
thing) and get on the second floor of the castle and jump down. The saw
lets you enter the dark windows.
Best of luck.

Hi there
I stumbled upon your MSC fansite during a sudden bout of "whatever
happened to...?"
The first time I played the game was on the Japanese famicom version, and
my Chinese cousin gave me a manual with all the secrets in it, except it
was in Chinese so I couldn't read it, but they had enough pictures to show
you where the bumblebee, music box and door was in each level. The
farthest I got was the huge third floor and I never beat the game.
The only thing I remembered as a kid was the music boxes. All I remembered
was that it was really cool how everytime you got a new music box the
song would get more fun and interesting. I totally forgot what the music
sounded like but I really would like to hear it again. I did a google
search
but I couldn't find the MIDI anywhere. Do you happen to have it? I'd
especially love to get a midi of each iteration of that music, startin
from the
one drum to all the instruments (the farthest I got was 4 music boxes so I
never got past when the violin guy showed up)
Sean
Hi Sean,
I'm sorry to say I don't have that audio. That's a good idea, though.
Perhaps I'll tackle that one of these days when I'm bored and need a
project to do. Yeah, it's actually a pretty neat aspect of the game that
you get a new instrument joining the song with each music box you get.
It's quite rewarding when you get the final box and get to hear the
full-blown song with all the parts playing.

Greetings! After searching for quite some time I came
across your site. This seems to be the only place
that exists for MSC fans. Very cool. I do have a
question though regarding finding 2 items.
1. The second pair of shoes that allow you to jump
really high. I came across them once, but did not
have enough money to purchase them. When I had enough
money I had forgotten where this was. Perhaps someone
remembers?
2. Finding the 2nd princess in the gray (right) tower.
I've already found the cane which was through the
fireplace in the room on the 3rd level. The only room
I've been able to access is the room with the ice room
with the melt away pieces. I just can't seem to
figure my way past this part. Any help is greatly
appreciated.
Again, a big thank you for dedicating this space for
MSC fans.
