random notes of mercury rev's life on the road...

in an effort not to clutter the main gigography, most show notes (openers, etc) will be thrown onto this page....

Bjs gig was April 13, 1991 in Fredonia, NY. It was their first gig ever (as "Mercury Rev", anyway). Small bar, just a few people there.

gig in Leeds w/ Creaming Jesus on August 28, 1991. Not sure of club.

Mary Fridmann says...
"I have an itinerary of something called 1992 Tour of Anglo-Saxony.
I went to both of these tours but we ( Dave and I) were called back before the shows even started..I guess they played the shows. Dave says John DeVries covered bass parts.."

1991
June 7th Mean Fiddler, London, UK
August 22nd Powerhaus, London,UK
August 28th Duchess of York, Leeds, UK
November 25th Riverside, Newcastle, UK - a review I have says that this was their 8th ever show and the Dylan one was their 7th ever

November 28th Boardwalk, Manchester, UK
November 29th Mean Fiddler, London, UK

1992

I also have a review of a show at Queen Margaret Union, Glasgow, Scotland which might be 1992 or 1993 from the songs it mentions that they do.

Some info on the Nov 1992 shows. Glagow King Tut's Wah Wah (Nov 16th) they covered The Ramones' "Rockaway Beach" and also covered it at the Cork, Village gig (Nov14th).
------------------------------------------

Another mystery one, a news clipping says that they will play London ULU on
Septmber 18th following their appearance in July at Clapham Grand. It
doesn't say what year it's talking about, but if it's 1993 then it seems odd
because they were in the US in August/September 1993.

Also, have a review of a Rev/Spiritualised show at Glasgow University. No dates, but probably 1993

just wanted to let you know that Mercury Rev played a sort of acoustic promo gig
last thursday (february 3),  in Madrid, at the Fnac Forum.
You might find this info useful for the gigography, as it has not been announced
in the official site.

the show lasted about 45mins
i wish i could have attended but it was by invitation only,
to the people who purchased the new record in a particular madrid store (Fnac Callao).
I live in vigo so...

Javi
