[review]
Just got back from the Omaha show about 5 minutes ago, and being the
introverted geek I am will post a report from the show. We showed up
with a few songs left before Rilo went on stage. Saw Jenny and Jason
hanging out. Pierre still isn't with the band and probably won't be
for the rest of the tour I guess. I couldn't pick Blake out, he must
have been messing around in the back.
The Dazy Maze is fantastically small coffee shop/cafe in the Old Market.
It was a lot smaller than I expected and thus space was pretty limited
for a foursome, but Rilo most likely plays similar venues here and there.
Blake showed up to the show with a sweater vest and tie covered up by
a sweet 80s back satin jacket a silver sparkled landscape on the back.
We doned a flatbilled baseball cap and wicked cool 80s sunglasses. He
got the show started by putting the glasses on in a hylariously theatrical
manner. Then they rocked. I can't even remember how many songs they
played (about ten i guess). Right around an hour. No covers. Three newer
songs I believe. Sounded like a similar playlist to what everyone else
has posted.
It seemed like their energy level is still pretty high. Jason was amazingly
enthusiastic and Blake must have really been "feeling" it. He played
a wonderfully over the top solo to close out Always and really turned
the overdrive up for a lot of the traditional solos in the second cds
songs.
Nothing new I guess. When I saw them in Kansas earlier this year they
really lit it up and it just goes to show that they rock harder in person
than they do on the cds. Most of you should know that I guess.
Other than that it was a great show and was well appreciated. I couldn't
really tell if anyone there was a fan of Rilo outside of the people
hosting the show and myself. The fifty or so that were there really
got into them and I could hear there appreciating afterwards.
so long and goodnight
