notes on 11/2002 DC velvet lounge show:

This was a great show at a VERRRY intimate venue above a bar with an akward start. About 1/2 through opener Arlo's set a dispute broke out between the singer and the drummer which resulted in the drummer walking off stage the singer following then a fight breaking out between the 2. After being thrown to the ground the drummer and bassest returned and the improv jammed for the last 5 minutes. Jenny who was downstairs came up to me and asked what happened. the mood was a little somber at the beginning of Rilo's set then the it kicked into gear. one of the first times Absence of God was played. With the exception of a mess up during the "and Morgan says.." bit the song went over flawlessly with just jenny and blake playing acoustically. this was also the last night of the tour with Arlo before RK jumped on the Riner Maria tour.

video, 45m. good quality. "Absence of God" was not filmed because the band was nervous about playing it and asked the taper put away his camera during it.
