[review]

It has been a little over a year since the day I first heard about
Rilo Kiley. Last night I was finally able to witness the band play
live at the Rubber Gloves Recording Studio in Denton, TX. I am
usually not the best person with words and because of that I will
just let my photos do the talking.

Some days last longer than others. But this day went to fast.. that
was definitely the sentiment last night. Rilo Kiley rocked on
several songs from the new album and also included a very nicely done
Science Vs. Romance. The highlight for myself and for a few of us at
the very front happened right before and during "With Arms
Outstretched." Blake called me up on stage and asked me to sing
along with them, I accepted though I was so nervous/shocked I made a
complete fool of myself. It is all blurry now, a surreal
recollection of thoughts that plays more like a dream than something
that actually happen. A few others joined the stage and clapped
along. I am not sure how many other Rilo Kiley fans there were out
there but one thing is for sure, the band really won the crowd over
even if most were there for Rainer Maria. With the least bias as
possible I honestly think the crowd was more hyped when Kiley was on
than with Rainer Maria, and no offense to any R|M fans but RK was
just rocking that night. For those who have not seen Rilo Kiley
play, make it a priority to do see them. There is this chemistry,
especially between Blake and Jenny that I have only seen with a
handful of bands. Jason just thundered away in perfect timing and
Pierre's bass completed that perfect sonic landscape that we all
enjoyed. One of the best shows I have been to in a long time, no
doubt.

I had the luck to meet up with the band after the show, all very very
nice people. Blake was complaining about how he had lost a guitar in
Portland and how his main guitar had broken, he was using one of
Rainer Maria's guitar.. this beautiful white Fender. I really liked
the way the band bounced around while they played, you could see the
music flowing out of their bodies. I really hope they come back soon.
