[review]

the band took the stage at about 10:10 PM. Jenny did it's a hit solo on a second balcony stage above the main. Once she finished the band came out and played the intro to Always while Jenny came down to join them.

Second show of this tour leg, it was clear they were still working on their stage "act". Blake even quipped "sorry, it's still early in this tour so our transisitions suck right now" (or words to that effect).

Blake also noted three ppl in the front with Bright Eyes shirts - said they had good taste.

There was a delay between better son/daughter and bulletproof because, as Jenny put it, "the guitar is MIA". Someone in the crowd yelled out "tell a story" so she obliged by discussing how her (sister?) was "expecting a new addition to the family". Jenny assumed this meant a child so she talked about how she dreamed of dressing the kid up in thrift store clothing...but when she called her (sister?), her (sister?) said she'd gotten a dog, not pregnant.

Blake said they are going into the studio in Nebraska in November to work on a new album.

Jenny introduced emotion by saying "this is a new one" or words to that effect).

During my slumbering Heart, there was a problem with the bass guitar and it cut out. Blake did a bit of a solo while it got sorted out "This is what it sounds like without bass guitar!". Jenny kept waving him on to continue while they tweaked with the amp and cabling and such.

There were at least two video tapers (unknown type) and three audio tapers (one minidisc, one DAT, and one ?) in the audience.

the show as a whole was amazing. it was my first RK gig and I was blown away...the power they had on stage went way beyond the album renditions. I cannot wait to hear this new album and see them again.

[another review]

Saw Rilo at the Great American Music Hall last night. Jenny started the show playing on the balcony then then leaped into the first few measures of "Always," but ended it before the actual verse and chorus. Most of the set consisted of songs from "Execution" and some new ones that weren't named but sounded good. Blake played a song as an encore then people called out "Frug" at the end. So when Blake said the last song would be a song called "The Frug" people screamed and then they played "My Slumbering Heart," which is my favorite song by them ever so that was cool . Good crowd. I think it was almost sold out. Grabbed a t-shirt and left for the wharf. Good show. Haven't seen them in years.
