NOTES: Tracks 1-13 are the Mushroom Tapes Tracks 14-18 are from Alien Studios which i believe is located in Norman or Oklahoma City. These tracks were taken from an analog tape. Not recommend for people who are strictly digital and extremely anal about tape hiss.
UPDATE: most of this (or at least most of the "mushroom tape" part) was recently officially released in much better quality on a cd called "The Day They Shot a Hole in the Jesus Egg - The Priest Driven Ambulance Album, Demos and Outtakes". so buy that.

FLAMING LIPS 07/15/99 WWCD 101- Columbus, OH - 34min

Note to self: this is filler on Rev 9/6/95 cdr

Robin Hitchcock and Wayne Coyne - 7.20.99 Chicago, IL "Sound Opinions" WXRT-FM
robin interview / cheese alarm / more robin interview / i feel beautiful / wayne and robin interview / "the talking chips blues" / the captain (lips outtake, not live)
notes- first part is just with robin, getting interviewed and playing a couple tunes solo acoustically. then wayne comes in and gets interviewed.. actually, talks with robin, mostly.. they half-heartedly consider doing a song together, but settle for a jam of sorts with robin strumming his guitar and wanye talking about chips and rainbows. then the djs play a lips outtake. quality of this recording isn't great (tape hiss, not very clear), but decent.. and some interesting stuff.

Flaming Lips - Oklahoma City 8/5/99
1 Spiderbite/soundcheck
2 wayne's intro

14. waitin' for a superman
15. -wanye rambling some more-
16. how will we know?
17. white christmas
notes- great show. but bass heavy, resulting in a distorted recording. listenable, though.

Flaming Lips - Zaireeka "defeated purpose version" mixdown cdr
1. OKAY I'LL ADMIT THAT I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND
2. RIDING TO WORK IN THE YEAR 2025 (YOUR INVISIBLE NOW)
3. THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND FEET OF DESPAIR
4. A MACHINE IN INDIA
5. THE TRAIN RUNS OVER THE CAMEL BUT IS DERAILED BY THE GNAT
6. HOW WILL THEY KNOW (less annoying version)
7. MARCH OF THE ROTTEN VEGETABLES
8. THE BIG OL' BUG IS THE NEW BABY NOW
Notes- Zaireeka is an amazing album. Used to be you had to play 4 discs at one time.. but this handy cdr has all 4 discs carefully mixed down to one. The countdown intros are removed and the super-annoying high pitch on track 6 is mixed much quieter in the mix.. so now you can enjoy it as a normal album.. well, maybe 'normal' isn't the right word. :)

Flaming Lips - radio sessions (Peel 99 & KCRW 99) + more cdr 79m
1. We Can't Predict The Future (peel session june 8, 99)

15. Thrity-Five Thousand Feet of Despair (stereo remix) - Waitin' For a Superman single
16. Riding To Work in the Year 2025 [Your Invisible Now] (stereo remix) - Waitin' For a Superman single
notes- tracks 4-13 don't sound too good. the other stuff sounds great. by the way, the KCRW 99 session is complete, unlike some copies going around where the very end of 'over the rainbow' is missing.
The Peel Session can be found in slightly better quality (and without John Peel's talking) on the Soft Bulletin Companion CD 2 (see below).

Flaming Lips - demos/b-sides/etc cdr 70m

16. waterbug (KCRW radio, brainville single)
17. sun arise (alice cooper tribute [from tape])
18. it was a very good year (frank sinatra tribute [from tape])

Flaming Lips- 1997-98 'ZAiREEKA' / 'Soft Bulletin' Rough Mixes
1. the captain is a cold heater
2. race for the prize
3. a spoonful weighs a ton
4. the spark that bled
5. slow motion
6. spiderbite song
7. 1000 ft. hands
8. buggin
9. okay i'll admit that i really don't understand
10. what is the light?
11. waiting for a superman
12. satellite of you
13. suddenly everything has changed
14. riding to work in the year 2025
15. waiting for a superman
16. Slow Nerve Action (live)
Notes: great disc which has become somewhat obsolete thanks to the Soft Bulletin Companion CDs (see below) which feature most tracks from this CD in better quality. I think think this disc was sourced from tape.

Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin Companion CD 1 - 58m cdr
1 - 35,000 Feet of Despair
2 - 1,000-foot Hands (early mix)
3 - 2025 (You're Invisible Now)
4 - Buggin' (Lips mix)
5 - A Machine in India (edit)
6 - Okay I'll Admit
7 - The Captain
8 - Satellite of You
9 - The Spiderbite Song (early mix)
10 - Slow Motion (early mix)
11 - 1,000-foot Hands (final mix)
12 - Little Hands (rough mix)
13 - The Big 'Ol Bug
Notes: this is a cdr copy of one of the original discs. I think it's an official promo release or something, but I'm not totally sure of its origin. Very cool disc with outtakes and rough mixes.
I heard someone say this, "There were very few copies of the first companion CD... from what I remember, they were made by the band for friends and Warner Brothers people. They were CD-Rs. I don't know the history of the second companion CD, but it's made up of performances from British radio (great version of Race for the Prize on there!)."

Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin Companion CD 2
1 - Sun Arise (alice cooper tribute)
2 - Race For The Prize
3 - Feeling Yourself Disintegrate
4 - The Spiderbite Song
5 - The Daily Hum
6 - The Spiderbite Song
7 - Feeling Yourself Disintegrate
8 - Everyone's Gone to the Moon
9 - Feeling Yourself Disintegrate
10 - The Spiderbite Song
11 - The Switch That Turns Off The Universe
12 - We Can't Predict The Future
13 - It Remained Unrealizable
14 - The Captain
15 - Waitin' For A Superman
16 - It Was A Very Good Year (frank sinatra tribute)
Notes: Like SBCD1, part 2 is an awesome listen as well. (my only complaint is that the 3 Spiderbite Songs sound too similar.) This one is taken from high quality MP3s, however. I think all the tracks are from radio sessions, but the sound quality is excellent (most likely taken from the station's original tapes, not just recorded off the radio).
2-5 Evening Session- BBC Radio One 4/21/99
6-8 The Basement- GRL 4/23/99
9-10 XFM 4/27/99
11-13 John Peel session- BBC 6/8/99
14-15 GRL 6/10/99
Lots of places online (traders, discographies) incorrectly list these recordings as 2000, but they are definitely 1999. Well, the only one I'm not 100% positve about is the last GRL session. The first and last tracks are filler (they fit in nicely, though).. the first is sourced from the original CD, the last is sourced from high quality mp3.
